Hello, I had a busy week. I I had a chance to have a table display for the local military spouse. For the occasion I prepared a variety of decorated sugar cookies, cupcakes, canestrelli(my sister favourite Italian cookies) and everyone favourite...cake bites. I kept my theme a vintage nostalgia.

Ruffle

This week I finally had a chance to make a ruffle cake. I recently learned this technique on http://www.mycakeschool.com/ on ombre and ruffle with buttercream. I personally like buttercream cakes better than fondant one, they have a more romantic and nostalgic look. So I was really happy when I had a request for a purple cake for a first birthday and this is how it looks like.

Baby girl cookies

It seems this year cookies are very popular. I usually receive a lot of request for cakes and cake bites but recently I am getting a lot of order for cookies. I always wanted to make little baby feet decorated cookies. They are everywhere in the web and they look adorable. I have to say that after making so many little feet and little toes by hand I decided to buy the mold a huge time saver.

Sophia's Birthday

Hello,
this week I took a break from orders and just focus on my daughter birthday party. She turned 6 on May 25 and she wanted a blue princess party. She was very specific on the cake:she wanted a blue castle cake. To be honest she saw the "cake boss" episode where he made a castle cake for his daughter and she wanted the same...yea right I can't pull that off in my chicken and in 2 days so I made a smaller version. My own version for my beautiful Sophia.

Tea party, Birthday

This week I had the opportunity to prepare some sweet for a girl tea-party Birthday. My client gave me white paper, she told me:"I trust on your taste" and gave me the girl name(Abigail). So I went big. I made cupcakes with pink frosting and sugar decorations and I made the dollies with her name on it. I also made some cake bites dipped in pink coating. So each little girl will have a cupcake and a cake bite.

anniversary cake

Try to make a cake that please him and her at the same time is always a challenge. Usually with ladies you add a little of pink or some flowers and they are very happy. But for the male is not so easy all the time. So when I was asked to make an anniversary cake for a couple (23 years together) I tried to keep my design suitable for both:Red roses on top for her and black stripe on the bottom for him.
The bottom tier is a red velvet cake filled with chocolate cream cheese frosting (for him), and the top tier is a marbled cake filled with chocolate frosting(for her).

December Wedding

This month I had a big wedding cake to make. 3 tier 22 inches tall. The bride was getting married the day after Christmas and that day a huge snow fall decided to come over us with record high(10inches). I really enjoy making this cake. It was totally different than my usual style so it challenged me. I also had to have my husband help for the transportation considering the weight of the cake and the conditions of the roads. I also made over 150 cake bites for the guest using the same color scheme of the cake: Red,white and gold.

The body is chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and the neck is red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I also almost destroy the cake during the delivery but this is all another story.....

Spider man cake

Hi, how are you today?
As you can see my week-end was busy, 3 cakes in 3 day was a challenge! This cake was for my friend son. He loves Spider man so I wanted to do something cool for him. It is not a girly cake nor pink or glittery but I think I like it. And I think he liked it too because he was so nice to bring me a present after the birthday party.

Anyway this is a French Vanilla cake with butter cream frosting. I made all the penguins and igloo with a mix of fondant and gum paste.

Wedding cake

I want to start this blog with one of my favorite wedding cake. I was asked to make a cake for a wedding in September using the colors:white, black and red. So I made a 3 tier French Vanilla Cake covered with white fondant as a base. I topped the top layer with roses. The wonderful sparkling detail on the 2 tier is a vintage brooch I brought with me from Italy. I have to say that was the first 3 tier cake I made and I was very nervous about it( taller cakes are a challenge especially during the transfer).Everything turned out great and the bride and the groom were very happy.
